Placement Test Tomorrow!

Don't forget!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 20 is our Placement Test date. Please meet at:

8:45a.m. in B-111

Please bring a Photo ID if you own one.

Do come promptly before 9:00a.m. The test begins AT 9:00a.m.

Please come on time. This is being considerate to your classmates, the testing center employees, the AE Department, and of course, your Instructor. Please don't make our class look bad in the eyes of the College.

If you are running late, you must communicate with me via text or e-mail!

See you tomorrow! I know you will do excellent on your test!

I hope you all had a lovely time at the AE Spring Fair. If you missed class this morning, you could go to the fair tonight from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in order to do the following assignment. The Fair is being held in the B building in the Link (cafeteria).

Write a short paper (500 words minimum) on your experience at the AE Spring Fair. Your paper does not have to be in the five-paragraph format, but it is recommended.

Your paper must include:
1. Your personal experience at the AE Spring Fair.
2. At least two (2) direct quotes of at least two (2) people you interviewed at the AE Spring Fair. The people you interviewed may not speak your same native language.
3. Commentary on what you learned at the AE Spring Fair.

Here is an idea of how you could set up your paper for a five-paragraph essay (if you choose):
I. Introduction
II. Paragraph on your personal experience at the AE Spring Fair
III. Paragraph on the commentary from the first  person you interviewed at the AE Spring Fair
IV. Paragraph on the commentary from the second  person you interviewed at the AE Spring Fair
IV. A conclusion on your overall thoughts of the AE Spring Fair

Here is another idea of how you could set up your paper for a five-paragraph essay (if you choose):
I. Introduction

If you do not attend the AE Spring Fair and still want credit for a paper (25 points) you must:
1. Research on the culture of a particular country that interests you. You may not write about your own country. The paper should include things like: traditions, holidays, costumes, literature, artwork, handicrafts, dancing...etc.

Homework for March 23, 2011

1. Write a paragraph(s) on either a. Japan or b. Libya. (150 words); Due Friday.

2. Review Unit 12 vocabulary. Make sure you can use these words in your own words!

3. Review reported speech. How does reported speech differ from quoted speech?

4. Start thinking about your next essay: a. The Advantages of Nuclear Power OR b. The Disadvantages of Nuclear Power. Pick either side. You will be graded on your writing skills, NOT on your opinions! If you like nuclear power, then do write about nuclear power.
